I was on a walk with a friend the other day, an owl quietly swooped through the trees next to the trail we were on. Our conversation shifted to shadow work and to the necessary work we all must do in the night, under the cloak of darkness. It is easy, for me, to want to focus only on the brightest blooms, the light and heat of the sun... but the wholeness of the human experience requires that we, like the owl, gather the courage to explore the shadows of our soul, of the shared soul of humanity. Doing "the work" requires we both fly with the Red Tailed Hawks in the day and Great Horned Owls when the sun gives way to the moon...
