I only work with stones that speak to me. I am quite choosy in the stones that will make their way into a piece of jewelry, as a result. The challenge this creates, of course, is that I am quite attached to each piece once it is finished. Over the years, I have come to understand that this art is as much about practicing letting go as it is about making.
This Turquoise is one of the most stunning specimens I have ever seen. Bright green, complex veining... the stone is itself a work of art. An opportunity for me to love with an open hand and practice detachment.
All my pieces are individually handmade from natural stones and recycled metals. No two items are alike, and they will all have natural imperfections. These imperfections imbue the work with unique personality, grit, and story – the stuff of character.
Stone jewelry shouldn’t be worn in water or exposed to chemicals (soaps, lotions, detergents). I like to think of stones as living things (on much different time scales than the ones we are accustomed to). To extend their lives, we need to limit their exposure water and other chemicals/liquids.
Ethically sourced and hand cut Turquoise set in sterling silver with fine silver bezel. Size 8.
